Here's what we were working with at this Waxahachie home - three completely different floor types all fighting each other. Hardwood at the entry, carpet through the living room, and tile in the kitchen. It's a setup that's common in homes built in the late 90s and early 2000s, but it creates a choppy, disconnected feel that's hard to clean and even harder to keep looking sharp.

The homeowners were ready for something cohesive and low-maintenance. So we pulled everything up - all of it. Once the old hardwood, carpet, and tile were stripped out, we leveled and prepped the subfloor across the entire space before a single plank went down. That prep step matters more than most people realize. Skipping it is how you end up with hollow spots, buckling, and installations that look rough within a year.

The new material going in is 12mm water-resistant laminate. For a busy household, that thickness and that water resistance make a real difference. You get the warmth and look of wood without the anxiety every time someone spills something or tracks in mud. It holds up to pets, kids, and daily foot traffic in a way that traditional hardwood and carpet simply can't match.

What makes this job interesting is the scope. We're not just swapping out one room - we're unifying the entire main living area under one consistent floor. That kind of whole-home flooring replacement completely changes how a space reads. Rooms feel larger, the layout feels intentional, and everyday cleaning gets a whole lot simpler. Before and after coming soon.
