Two rooms, worn-out carpet, and a homeowner ready for something that actually holds up. That's what we were working with at this Mansfield home. The old carpet had seen better days - stained, matted down, and just dragging the whole space down with it.
We pulled everything out and went in with 6.5mm vinyl plank in Earth Loam. It's a warm, dark wood tone that pairs really well with the existing wall colors in both rooms. The wider planks give the floors a clean, modern look without feeling overdone. Understated but sharp.
Here's the part most people don't think about - before a single plank goes down, we test the subfloor for moisture. We use a Tramex non-destructive moisture meter directly on the concrete to get a real reading. Skipping this step is how floors end up buckling, warping, or failing early. We don't skip it.
The difference between the before and after is hard to miss. What used to look tired and dated now feels like a completely different space. Solid underfoot, easy to clean, and built for real everyday use - kids, pets, foot traffic, all of it.
Vinyl plank is one of the best upgrades you can make for livability and long-term value. And when the prep work is done right from the start, the floor performs the way it's supposed to for years to come.
