This Frisco home needed a full floor overhaul. The primary bedroom and hallway were covered in old, worn carpet that had run its course - stained, matted down, and just hard to keep clean. The stairs were in similar shape. So we stripped it all out and started fresh.

For the primary room and hallway, we went with 12mm hybrid flooring. That extra thickness matters more than people realize. It gives you a more solid feel underfoot, better sound dampening, and it holds up against daily wear a lot better than thinner options. The warm wood-look finish ties the whole space together and works with the existing trim and built-ins around the fireplace without clashing at all.

The subfloor prep in the bedroom required some real attention before we could lay anything down. You do not skip that step - an uneven or compromised base will show up in the finished floor eventually. We made sure everything was clean and level before the first plank went down.

For the stairs, we went a different direction and installed fresh carpet. That is actually the smarter call for a staircase - it is quieter, safer underfoot, and holds up to the daily foot traffic of people going up and down. The neutral tone we used pairs cleanly with the new hybrid flooring at the top landing, so the transition between the two feels intentional rather than mismatched.

The end result is a home that is easier to maintain and just looks sharper. Two different flooring types, installed in the same job, done right from subfloor to surface.
