Moving into a new home is exciting - but sometimes the floors just aren't what you pictured. That was exactly the situation here. This Midlothian family wanted flooring that actually matched the feel of their home, so they brought us in to tear out the old material and start fresh. About 1,300 square feet total. Not a small job.
Here's what we were working with before we got started - old flooring ripped up, adhesive still stuck to the subfloor, debris scattered across multiple rooms. The demo phase is messy and unglamorous, but it's one of the most important parts of the process. A clean, flat subfloor is what everything else is built on. Skip that step, and it shows in the finished product.
Once the subfloor was prepped, we laid new laminate floors throughout the main living areas. The color they chose - a warm, natural oak tone - works really well with the gray walls and the bold blue cabinetry in the kitchen. It ties the whole space together without competing with anything. The rotunda entryway was one of our favorite parts of this job. Getting clean lines around that curved wall takes patience, and the end result speaks for itself.
What we ended up with is a home that finally feels complete. The floors flow from the entry all the way through the living room and kitchen with zero awkward transitions. Clean seams, tight edges against the baseboards, consistent color throughout. That's the kind of finish that makes a house feel like it was built this way from day one.
Every home is different, and no two installs are exactly alike. Whether you're updating a new build or pulling out old floors that have seen better days, getting the details right - from subfloor prep to final trim - is what separates a good install from a great one. We take that seriously on every job we do.
